This site exists because comparing social media schedulers is unreasonably hard. Pricing pages hide the per-account cost behind a seat count. Feature tables mark a network as “supported” when what they mean is that the app will send you a phone notification and let you paste the caption yourself. Half the comparison articles on the web were written by someone who opened a free trial for twenty minutes.
So we test the tools on live accounts, over weeks, with real posting schedules, and write down what happened.
What we actually do
Every tool in the directory gets connected to a working set of accounts and given a queue to publish. We watch for the things that only show up after the demo: posts that fail silently at 6am, Instagram carousels that lose their second image, approval workflows that email the wrong person, analytics that disagree with the native app by 30%. Then we check what the same setup costs at ten accounts instead of three, because that is where most of these products get expensive.
Rankings get revisited quarterly. Products change. Buffer has been rebuilt more than once. Hootsuite’s pricing has moved in a direction its users did not enjoy. A review written in 2023 is close to worthless now, so old reviews either get updated or get pulled.
How this is paid for
Affiliate commissions, on some of the tools, some of the time. If you click a “Visit” button on a review page and later subscribe, we might get paid. That arrangement has two hard limits: it never decides where a tool sits in the ranking, and no vendor gets to see or approve a review before it publishes. Several of the highest-ranked tools on this site pay us nothing at all.
The full version of that is on the affiliate disclosure page, and the scoring method is written out on how we rank.
What we will not do
We do not run sponsored reviews, sell ranking positions, publish vendor-supplied copy under our own byline, or add a tool to the directory because its PR team asked nicely. If a product is bad we say so on its own review page, which is a decent test of whether a comparison site is worth reading.
